I apologize for the extremely late notice on this one but wanted to get it off my list. Back on January 14, 2013, the always informative Lauren Beale at LA Times Hot Property wrote about the Glendale listing of Don Knott's former home from the 60's.

Don Knotts (real name Jesse Donald Knotts) is best known for his portrayal of Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show which earned him five Emmy awards as well as Ralph Furley on the 80's sitcom Three's Company. In 1996, TV Guide ranked him #27 on its 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time list. Don Knott unfortunately passed away on February 24, 2006 due lung cancer at the age of 88. I recommend visiting the Wikipedia page to learn more about this much loved, influential, and accomplished actor.

The home measures 3 Beds/3.25 Baths on 3,213 sqft on a total lot size of 7,202 sqft built in 1934 but heavily renovated since then. The listing description states:
Cumberland Heights 1934 Colonial Revival with gracious floor plan was home to Don Knotts in the 1960's. Large foyer steps down into the living room with wood beamed ceilings and decorative fireplace. Large dining room with coffered ceilings flows gracefully through breakfast room with built in banquette. The newly renovated kitchen with handmade cabinets, Ceasarstone countertops, Viking and SubZero appliances add professional efficiencies to this 100% Green constructed kitchen built by a LEED certified contractor. Completing the main level is a large den with direct access to back yard and pool areas. Upstairs the light and bright master bedroom has great views and quaint balcony. Bathroom has vintage art deco tile and dressing room with built in vanity. 2nd bedroom has an attached office or nursery and large lanai. All bedrooms are generously proportioned and have attached individual bathrooms. Outside the large grassy yard is surrounded by walls of green and seperate private pool area

This home sold on February 19, 2013 for $1,295,000 which was previously purchased for $600,000 on June 26, 2003 giving the sellers a gain of $695,000 before taxes, commissions, carrying costs, and renovation expenses.

I tried to confirm the residence of Don Knotts at this location with no success so I am relying on LA Times who are very accurate as well as the listing agent who are sometimes not so accurate. I confirmed with the Movieland Directory, Virtual GlobeTrotting, and the various property records databases. What I was able to confirm is that the last home Don Knotts owned was a condo at 1854 South Beverly Glen Blvd #402 in Beverly Hills.

The condo measures 3 Beds/3 Baths on 3,289 sqft built in 1981. This home was last sold on October 16, 2007 for $1,230,000 by the estate of Don Knotts with the original purchase date and price unknown. Surprisingly (or maybe not since last purchased at the peak of the market) this home has been listed on and off the market which is currently in a pending status as a short sale with the last listed price of $700,000.

The listing description states:
Three bedrooms (one upstairs, with access to rooftop area), two downstairs (must go through master to get through 2nd bedroom), three bathrooms, high ceilings, two assigned parking spaces side by side, rooftop lounge area with views! Assessor shows 3289 sqft, however, property is closer to 2700 sqft. .. buyers to independently verify.
